Preamble

We all have specific standards that must be met; in our home, life, or career. Constantly and consistently we are expected to meet these standards. It’s just something as a human we are trained and used to. As a student, daughter, and employee, there are many different ground rules that I have and will maintain for my life. These codes have established a reputable name for myself so far, and guarantee that I stick to the script. Throughout my life, up to this point, I have found a code of ethics that I strongly believe in and sets a good example of what my professional and personal life.

Staying true to yourself in the workplace and do nothing that disreputes or degrades you. It plays a major role in employment as you think, and can do a lot for you in return.

Golden rule

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” This is pretty straight forward as it is all about reciprocity. It is a moral commitment of a combination of tolerance, consideration, and compassion for others. Ethics in the professional world have a huge impact on the long-term success of the company including its’ clients, employees, and executive administration. Treat your customer right, and they’ll be happy. Treat your employee right, and they will be more enthusiastic and motivated to strive for their service.

Quality

Whatever you do, put your best foot forward. Your clients expect the best quality of work from you. The quality of your work doesn’t only reflect your company’s reputation, but also your own.

Responsibility

Promise to always uphold and meet the job expectations and daily work duties. Self-responsibility is the most important, and an employee should always take responsibility for their actions, whether inside or outside of normal duties. Read and live up to the company’s code of ethics consistently, and self-evaluate annually.

Accountability

This is related to responsibility, but the main difference is that employees should perform the required and assigned duties and to be there to work on time. If they are not completed and performed on the job, the employee is not being accountable. For a company to be successful, every employee needs to do their job, be present, and work together for the same goal: make the business more productive and efficient.

Conclusion

My personal and professional code of ethics above will guide me in my life, and updated as needed. In a time when I reach an ethical/moral predicament, this is something I will look back on.
